ABOUT US

Alley Cats Rescue...we rescue stray kittens and young cats to get them off the street and into that special, forever home that every cat deserves.

Not every cat or kitten that we take in is immediately ready for a new home. They may have been victims of abandonment, neglect or just scared and frightened of humans due to their experiences of living on the streets.

We take them in and offer them not only love and affection, good food and shelter, but also any veterinary care that is needed. This could be basic parasite control of fleas, ticks or worms or treatment of more complex medical issues.

But to provide any level of veterinary care costs money, which was a reason for setting up Alley Cats Rescue.

Totally run by volunteers, the charity helps us to cover the cost of vet fees incurred between removing a stray from the street and giving them a chance of a life by treating them, and finding them a home to call their own.

Trapping cats or kittens can be a nocturnal activity and we will often go out at night to collect a stray or endangered cat or kitten. This often means us using a humane trap if the animal is not used to being handled, or is very scared or stressed.

We will also aid in the Trap, Neuter and Return of cats to a site if there are people there who can feed them.

This approach can stop the breed cycle, and controls or prevents feral colonies developing. Neutering is of paramount importance! A female cat does not need to have a litter of kittens prior to being spayed. Kittens need neutering preferably by 6 months of age.

This cuts down unwanted kittens, stops males fighting for females and territory, cuts down the risk of feline diseases such as FIV and FELV. One un-neutered female cat can be responsible for 20,000 descendants in just 5 years!
